Information
Adolescent Health
Between 10 and 18 I follow the growth spurt, signs of puberty, nutrition and emotional change as a whole.

What is adolescent health follow-up?
Adolescent health follow-up is the assessment of a young person's growth, pubertal development, nutrition and emotional wellbeing as a whole between the ages of 10 and 18. Adolescence is a period of rapid change; regular follow-up at this time makes it possible to catch both physical and emotional problems early.
What do I do at follow-up?
- Assessing the growth spurt and the stages of puberty,
- reviewing nutrition, sleep and physical activity,
- an age-appropriate conversation about school, friendships, screens and mood,
- scoliosis screening and blood pressure measurement,
- completing vaccines (including school-age boosters).
How I run the visit
I spend part of the visit alone with the adolescent; this matters so that the young person learns to take ownership of their own health. I explain the rule of confidentiality clearly from the start: apart from matters that concern their safety, what is said stays between the young person and me.
A note for parents
Swings in appetite, sleep and mood in adolescence are usually a natural part of development; but withdrawing from school, marked social withdrawal, rapid weight change and sleep that stays disrupted for a long time are signs we should assess together. My door is open to the young person and to the family alike.
Frequently asked questions
When does puberty start, and when should I be concerned?
It is expected to start between 8 and 13 in girls and 9 and 14 in boys. Signs that are early or delayed outside these ranges need an examination.
Do you also talk to the adolescent alone?
Yes, in an age-appropriate way and with your knowledge. A conversation in which the young person can express themselves safely is the most valuable part of follow-up.
Which vaccines come up at this age?
School-age booster doses (including Td) and, depending on the situation, HPV and meningococcal vaccines are discussed at this stage; we decide together.
